G：Hi professor, it is great honor to have the opportunity for this interview.

P: What’s your name?

G: My name is Qing Li, you can call me grace.

Can you tell me how to spell Qing Li.

Yes, Qing Q-I-N-G, Li L-I.

P: So, Can you tell me a bit about your background, where you are from, where you went to school, and what you are interested in?

G: I came from Shanghai, China. Now, I am majoring in Accounting and Finance at Shanghai University. I am not only a student, but also an entrepreneur.

P: Tell me about that.

G: I set a restaurant last year and I recruited almost six people.

P: You’re running the restaurant currently?

G: Yes.

P: As well as going to school?

G: I went to restaurant at weekend and after school.

P: Why are you interested in UCL? Why do you choose this particular programme?

G: The ideal environment will provide me the exposure to management and opportunities to learn from those professional lectures. Moreover, your employability rate is among the highest in the UK. That’s the major reason I want to go to UCL.

：招生老师想要了解面试者选择本校的动机和兴趣，这个可以从多方面去挖掘，比如对学校（学院）做过调查研究，学校在该专业领域的研究是全球闻名的，无论是与英国还是美国的学校相比，比如提供的就业机会或是哪些老师处于世界优秀地位。对于上述模拟答案过于模式化，对于面试的同学，建议利用具体数据，事例，或学生本人亲身经历来说明，或是到学校网站上相关学院的信息了解该学院的学科、研究和师资具体信息。

P: What are your career ambitions?

G: I would like to choose a multinational restaurant after graduation, to be familiar with the operation process of the company, including the market positioning, financial management, business strategy and so on. In the meantime, I would continue to run my restaurant. As for my long-term career goal, I wish that I can set up a traditional Chinese restaurant and file for IPO.

： 在回答这一类问题时，建议面试者具体说出自己的职业目标和计划，具体到做什么职位，做什么事情，对整个公司流程的具体操作等。这个回答提出自己想要开饭店，希望自己的连锁饭店最后能成功上市，建议在意义上再扩充下希望摆脱进口市场的依赖性，打败中国的水货等等。

P: Why are you interested in practice?

G: I am convinced that knowledge comes from experience. What I can learn from school is the concept of management, which can be obtained by a lot of people. While what I would benefit from practice is unique.

这是一个开放性的问题，招生老师非常希望看到面试者对实践的理解，这个理解可以是面试者自己的观点，这样的回答就很好了，想到实践就联系到理论来自于实践，提出任何理论都需要付诸于实践的重要性。

P: Describe your undergraduate study, How will you use what you learnt from your undergraduate in 5 -10 years’ time?

G: As I told before, I majored in I laid solid foundation on finance and accounting at Shanghai University. I laid solid foundation on finance and accounting through the professional undergraduate study. The study will help me know how to manage finance in my future career life.

P: Do you have any questions for me about my college?

G: Yes, What did your previous graduates think the most valuable thing during their stay at UCL?

点评5：在以“反向面试”的姿态跟面试沟通，从而加深对所申学校的了解也不失为一个好的策略。

P: Well, we have a lot of different graduates and they have a lot of things they found valuable. However, one thing you’re talking about really sticks out is employability and access to real world experience. So a strong point of ucl is the people who talk to you, the people who you learn from, the people who you work with. They like you are and like you want to be more, are people with a lot of real experience. That is a lot of practice goes on. So it sounds like something that will be right of your ally.

G: Yeah, that’s also my major reason I want to apply for UCL.

P：In your life, in general who you said has been the greatest influence for you, pick one and say.

G：I have a lot of people I admired. But definitely, my parents influenced me most, although they didn’t tell me much about management. However, they let me know how important diligence is in my future life. Diligence will lead to success.

点评6：这个问题可以从很多方面来说，但一般招生老师非常希望看到面试者的成长中一些与众不同的地方。可以是家庭 性格 价值观及面试者对一些问题的看法。这里讲了家庭对自己影响很大，家人无形就是自己的一面镜子，面试者从家人身上学会了勤劳的重要的意义，这点回答不错。

P：Why are you interested in management particularly as a major?

G：Because it can help me make close to my goal, I would like to set up a traditional Chinese restaurant. The lack of specialized knowledge on management is the major reason I apply for Management. I want to run my restaurant better and better.

P：What challenge have you had in running your restaurant and how have you overcome them?

G：Some problems arise when I ran the restaurant like, applying for a business license, financial management, and recruiting staffs. To solve these problems, I made summary on personnel connection every day, and checked inventory at the end of month.

P：What do you do for fun in your free time?

During my leisure time, I would like to do some sports to improve health. Beyond that, I also enjoyed reading books to broaden my vision.

P: Great, what sports do you do?

G: Badminton, running and yoga.

P：If you have one million dollars, how would you invest them?

G: Wow, it’s a big money. I will divide it into three parts. Firstly, nearly 40% of money will go into real estate, because you know in Shanghai the real estate has a really good prospect. Secondly, 40% of money will go into stocks. I will buy stocks related to environment, as government put more attention on environmental issues, so I think it will be a good choice. Finally, I will use the remaining amount to invest my restaurant.

P：Have you been exposed to any manager you admired?

G：I admired Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba. I remembered he once said he knew nothing about IT, human resource management, and finance. But he can recruit some people who are good at these. I think he has a good vision in choosing people. That’s why I admired him and I hope I can be the person like him.

P：Can you tell me any experience about team work, and what does that mean?

G：Team work means putting many people together to do one specific thing. I like team work, because from team work I can learn from other people, and I can give full play to them, and I think team work is also a good way for me to learn management.

P: How have you been involved in team work and your restaurant?

G：I recruited two cooks, two cleaners, and one person who buy equipment. To manage them, I read many books and I made summary everyday on personnel connection.
