Music Technology Personal Statement
音乐技术个人陈述(PS)
Music has always been the most important aspect of my life. Ever Since the age of nine, I have developed my natural ability to play the guitar with the assistance of pitch perfect hearing. I have also started and joined bands from 11 years of age, but I have been fully dedicated to my current band for the last two years, playing at prestige venues such as Manchester University, Liverpool University and the famous Cavern Club. I believe the success of the band to be due to my commitment and devotion to succeed.
My wide knowledge of computers has also helped me to accomplish tasks in Music Technology. I have built my own computer and had a lot of experience in setting up windows 98 and windows 2000 including setting up home networks both for my family and for LAN games with friends.
I have also created a 14 track CD containing all my bands music, which we have recorded using our own equipment and have designed all the artwork for and promoted on our website to fans, friends and potential fans.
I have also helped to record a CD for my Music Technology teacher, which I have mixed and mastered. This was useful for me because it involved more practice in the art of sound engineering and live recording.
In the holiday after the GCSE examinations, I decided that I wanted to get a job as a sales assistant to earn money for myself and also to gain work experience. I have now been loyal to T J Hughes since that date and have worked there for approximately 1 3/4 year. Over that period of time, I feel I have developed more maturity and have learnt how to diffuse difficult situations and work under pressure independently. I feel I have been given more responsibility in my time working, which has developed me as a person, because it has motivated me to realise that you are rewarded for the work you put in. I also feel it beneficial to pitch ideas to the company that I think may improve the efficiency and quality of product and service within the business, after learning how the business works.
Contribution in many extra curricular activities has also been untaken, in events such as voluntarily helping out on open evenings for the school, joining the school swing band as a bass guitarist, even though I'm not a natural bass player. I enjoyed playing the guitar in school productions including getting up on the stage to do a solo in the show.
My AS level grades were something I am very proud of which included two A's in business studies and English Language including a mark of 100/105 in module 1 for English Language, a C in Computing despite the fact I had to catch up because I had not undertaken GSCE IT and a D in Music Technology which is currently awaiting a remark. General Studies was something I participated in despite it not being compulsory and I successfully gained a C that qualified me to take the exam at A2.
I consider myself to be a sporty person and have represented the school in rugby and football until an injury threatened my music ambitions. I have recently joined a five-a-side football team, which has won the league in the first season and were runners-up in the next one, while we currently sit at the top.
After my degree, I wish to go into the music business and work in a recording studio or work towards sound recording in the media industry. I also hope to take my band as far as it can possibly go and work hard for it to succeed.
